The Burlington Checker Club will participate in the Alamance Co.
Cedarock Park - "Preserving Our Heritage Festival"
Saturday, August 25th, 2012 9am - 5pm
The annual festival will feature demonstrations of turn-of-the-century skills
that were typical on a farm of that era including blacksmithing, log hewing &
using hand tools and techniques for debarking logs and squaring timbers, butter churning, soap making,
quilting & much more. Antique tractors, Auto, & "hit & miss" engines will be on
display. Old-time children's games including
checkers, sack races & egg
toss. Concessions available. Live music all day featuring
Buttermilk Creek, playing bluegrass and gospel. Come out & enjoy
this fun, family-friendly event.
Yes, Checkers and Beekeeping will be there!
We will be the first two exhibits you will see as you pass through the main
entrance. We are set up on the right side beside each other.
Directions: Take Exit 145 off I-85/40, 6.5miles south on Highway 49, turn left onto Friendship Patterson Mill Rd., turn left into Cedarock Park. Road name is R. Dean Coleman Road. The crown jewel of the Alamance County Recreation and Parks Department,
Cedarock Park and Historical Farm is located off of NC49, about 6 miles
south of Interstate 85/40 Exit 145. Home to two Disc Golf courses,
several walking trails, beautiful scenery, and an historical farm,
